HONG KONG -- Yoshito Usui, the Japanese manga artist responsible for the widely exported "Crayon Shin-chan" series, was found dead last weekend after an apparent hiking accident.

Usui, 51, was reported missing while hiking alone in mountains north of Tokyo. Police and family on Sunday confirmed that a body later found by another hiker was that of Usui. Police said there were no indications of suicide or foul play and that indications point to an accidental fall.

At a news conference it was revealed that police had found Usui's broken digital camera and that its memory card contained a photograph looking down a particularly steep cliff. "Usui apparently took that one last shot and then slipped and fell," an official from Futabasha Publishing said. "We are completely shocked with this consequence."

Usui made his manga debut in 1987 and achieved prominence with the "Crayon Shi-chan" series, which followed the classic route and became a book, a TV series and then a string of movies. The series was translated into 14 languages and sold in more than 30 territories.

"Crayon" features the daily life of Shinnosuke, a mischievous 5-year-old boy. Shinnosuke was notorious for dropping his trousers and shaking his hips, characteristics that for a while caused parent-teacher associations to blacklist the series.

Shinnosuke's outgoing good humor might have stood in contrast with his creator. Usui reportedly lived a quiet life bordering on reclusiveness with his wife and two daughters.

arwah dulu rapat dgn kami masa zaman SYJ pasar bulat. memang boleh kata tiap2 mlam minggu dia ada. aku rase sedih sgt pasal die memang rapat dgn aku dulu. lepas die keje kt kl dan famili die pun dah tak duduk ipoh, memang dah jarang sgt jumpe. sampai die kawin pun aku taktau. arwah dengar cerita baru 5 bulan kahwin. die meninggal lebih kurang pukul 3 petang tadi akibat hatinya bernanah (hasil sebaran melalui sms, yg betulnya aku tak tahu) gambar diatas diambil sempena majlis sambutan harijadi aku dekat SYJ super kinta. al fatihah buat sahabat.. :(

hello boss?

ape khabar? ade baik ka semua? bagaimana dgn puasa korang semua. kalau asyik dok ngutuk org, baik takyah puasa lah :) tinggal seminggu lagi nak puasa, terasa sedih plak. jgn lupe kejar solat terawih 10 terakhir nih, tapi jgn di lupe jugak solat fardhu. ygdok pegi vanggey selalu tuh, bawak2 insaflah. umur dah tua. takkan nak perangai mcm dulu lagi? tak bangga mana pun kalo setakat order nasik belakang kedai. tak rambo langsung :p saja nak bgtau, dalam masa berpuasa nih, ramai kawan2 lama aku dpt jumpe kembali. memang rindu jugaklah. ade yg dah berubah, ade yg tak berubah langsung. tapi kebanyakan byk yg berubah lebih bagus. alhamdulillah.

majlis buka puasa kali nih taklah sekerap mcm dulu2, tahun nih rasanya baru 2 kali saja. paham, masing2 ade keluarga. harap nak dekat2 puasa nih majlis berbuka puasa antara kita boleh dilakukan sekali lagi. bg yg tak balik2 langsung tuh yg syok sgt dok kt sana, balik time krismas je lah ye :) tahun nih aku tak turun jumpe tersayang. kesian die. tiap2 hari sedih je, mintak aku pegi jmpe die. jgn sedih ek sayam. pas raya i turun jumpe you. i promise!!! :p ade 2 tudung i nak beli dekat you :)
